INCREASING JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ MATHEMATICAL REASONING ABILITY BY USING GUIDED DISCOVERY LEARNING
This study is based on the problem of lack of mathematical reasoning abilities in mathematics. To overcome this, do research using guided discovery learning. This study examines the problem of improving mathematical reasoning skills among students who received the study of mathematics by learning guided discovery and scientific learning. This study is a quasi-experimental research with purposive sampling technique. The population in this study were students of Junior High School in Bandung in the academic year 2015/2016. Sample of research is the students of 7th gradeJunior High School. The instrument used in the research is test the ability of mathematical reasoning, student worksheet, and observation sheet. The data were analyzed quantitatively. Quantitative analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney nonparametric statistical test-U. The results showed that the increase in students' mathematical reasoning skills through guided discovery learning is not significantly different compared with students getting scientific learning.
