Abstract

Tlahap Village in Temanggung Regency continues to experience clean water shortages, particularly in higher-elevation areas inhabited by approximately 280 households. The SmartHydra Twin Flow system, comprising two hydraulic ram pumps and a stabilizer tube, was developed to lift water up to 190 meters without electricity or fuel. This community service program aimed to strengthen residents’ knowledge and practical skills in operating, maintaining, and repairing the system. Hybrid training was conducted on July 3, 2026, using actual discharge measurements recorded in June 2025 (133 L/s) and October 2025 (34.3 L/s at the principal intake and 1.72 L/s at the overflow). Following theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, participants could distinguish mechanical faults from seasonal reductions in water availability, select appropriate pump configurations, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs. A local management team was also established. These outcomes strengthened community capacity to operate the system independently and support a sustainable clean water supply in Tlahap Village.
