Abstract

This research aims to develop an educational board game named "JAGATE" as an interactive edutainment medium integrating local wisdom to enhance tourism literacy among youth in Tegal Regency. The study addresses the lack of responsive promotional media, which previously left 70% of local youths knowing fewer than 10 out of 74 regional tourism sites. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE framework combined with a descriptive mixed-methods approach, data collection mapped key destinations and linguistic nuances. The design features a Modular Tile-Laying System with 180 hexagonal path tiles and an Action Point strategy. Results from group playtesting showed that the media operates effectively, generating a minimum 30% increase in post-test tourism literacy scores. The game successfully transforms passive textual information into an immersive spatial-geographical learning experience while preserving the local Tegalan dialect through competitive play.
