This community engagement program aimed to enhance the competence of entry-level pencak silat coaches in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Indonesia, by improving their understanding of sports science and technology, evidence-based training methodologies, coach qualification standards established by the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI), and the implementation of the 2025 National Pencak Silat Competition Rules. The program employed a participatory approach integrating interactive lectures, practical sessions, group discussions, case studies, and question-and-answer activities. It was conducted on 21–22 June 2026 at the KONI DIY Building and involved 30 coaches, achieving the targeted participation rate of 100%. The program was supported by a strong partnership between the community engagement team and the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (Pengda IPSI DIY), while participant heterogeneity and limited training duration were identified as the primary challenges. The training was implemented successfully without significant obstacles, and all participants completed the competency assessment: 21 coaches (70%) achieved a very good qualification, 6 (20%) achieved a good qualification, and 3 (10%) achieved a satisfactory (conditional) qualification. These findings demonstrate that a structured coach education program combining theoretical and practical learning can effectively strengthen coaches’ professional competence and readiness to apply the 2025 National Pencak Silat Competition Rules in athlete development and competitive settings.
