Enkapsulasi Minyak Lemon (Citrus limon) Menggunakan Penyalut ?-Siklodekstrin Terasetilasi

Abstract


Minyak lemon bermanfaat untuk mengurangi rasa tertekan dan menyegarkan pikiran bila dihirup uapnya. Minyak atsiri umumnya mudah menguap dan mudah rusak. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, perlu dilakukan enkapsulasi. Senyawa ?-siklodekstrin adalah penyalut yang baik untuk enkapsulasi minyak atsiri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan enkapsulasi minyak lemon menggunakan penyalut ?-siklodekstrin terasetilasi, dan mendapatkan rasio (b/b) terbaik ?-siklodekstrin terasetilasi : minyak lemon melalui pengujian controlled release limonene dalam mikrokapsul minyak lemon. Penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi preparasi katalis Zr4+-zeolit beta, asetilasi ?-siklodekstrin, enkapsulasi minyak lemon dan pengukuran controlled release. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah sebanyak 6,40% logam zirkonium teremban dalam zeolit beta. Hasil spektra FTIR adalah intensitas-OH yang muncul pada bilangan gelombang 3336,93 cm-1pada ?-siklodekstrin terasetilasi mengalami penurunan, sedangkan C=O pada bilangan gelombang 1738,45 cm-1mengalami peningkatan. Controlled release limonene terbaik dalam mikrokapsul minyak lemon terletak pada variasi A2 (?-siklodekstrin terasetilasi : minyak lemon = 2 gram : 2 gram). Hasil SEM mikrokapsul minyak lemon adalah kristal berbentuk menyerupai balok dan nampak lebih gelap daripada ?-siklodekstrin terasetilasi yang diyakini adalah minyak lemon telah masuk ke dalam rongga ?-siklodekstrin terasetilasi. Ukuran mikrokapsul yang dihasilkan rata-rata sebesar < 2m.

Lemon oil is useful for reducing stress and refresh the mind when inhaled its steam. Essential oils are generally volatile and easily damaged. To solve the problem, encapsulation needs to be done. The ?-cyclodextrin is a good coating for the encapsulation of essential oils. The purpose of this study was to encapsulate the lemon oil using an acetylated ?-cyclodextrin coating, and obtain the best (w/w) ratio of the acetylated ?-cyclodextrin: lemon oil by testing controlled release limonene in the lemon oil microcapsules. The studies include preparation of Zr4+-zeolite beta catalyst, acetylation of ?-cyclodextrin, encapsulation of lemon oil and controlled release measurements. The result obtained is as much as 6.40% of zirconium metal is plugged in zeolite beta. The result of FTIR spectra is the OH-intensity that appears at 3336.93 cm-1 in ?-cyclodextrin of acetylated decrease, whereas C = O at wave number 1738,45 cm-1 has increased. The best controlled release limonene in lemon oil microcapsules lies in the variation of A2 (?-cyclodextrin acetylated: lemon oil = 2 grams: 2 grams). The result of SEM microcapsule of lemon oil is crystal resembling a beam and appears darker than the ?-cyclodextrin which is believed to be lemon oil has entered into the cetylated cytlodextrin cavity. The resulting microcapsule size averaged <2?m.
