ISO Implementation - Internal Auditor Training Program

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent & non-governmental body or consortium of 162 countries, all member countries work as national standard bodies or as an ISO (International Organization for Standardization) representative for their country. Central Secretariat of International Organization for Standardization situated in Geneva, Switzerland. (International Organization for Standardization) is officially functional from 23 February 1947. Since then International Organization for Standardization has published 21853 standards covering almost all aspect of technology & manufacturing.

What is a standard: - In a broad view standard is a set of common practice or practices which are being followed by multiple persons. Standard could be about practical information & best practices. The basic examples of standards are Paper Size (A4 family), Freight Container, Credit cards, Code of the countries & Currencies. The main work of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is to publish the standard on different aspect if there is a market need for it. For this work International Organization for Standardization have members (162) from different countries around the world the work of these member is to identify the voice or requirements for a new standard of their countries and further identify the experts to convert that demand in form of standard the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) central secretariat coordinates the development process and after completion of the work ISO published the same standard. So far International Organization for Standardization has published many standards but popular ones are ISO-9001 (Quality Management System), ISO-14001 (Environmental Management) & ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management).

How Standard is implemented: - ISO standard implementation follows a simple Deming's cycle of PDCA. As the first step, a process or a subprocess is identified for implementation of ISO standard. Then gaps of the same process are identified as per the given guidelines mentioned in the standard, the one for which company looking for certification. Once gaps have been identified the work to fulfill these gaps is started and all identified gaps are filled by maintaining the required documents as per standard. It is further checked by the Internal auditor that all requirements of the standard has been fulfilled or not in terms of the documentation, if not then again the same process repeats, till the gaps are not fulfilled. Once the all gaps fulfilled by industry in terms of documentation & processes, the industry looking for certification of standard sought out the accreditation body of ISO & raised a request to get the industry certified. Accreditation body sent an external auditor to check that all the documents are in order or not as per the given guidelines of the ISO standard, the one for which company looking for certification. An audit is carried out by the external auditor in the industry if all required documentation found in order as per the standard. Accreditation body on the basis of external auditor report issue the certificate of the standard for which industry is applying.

Main roles in ISO implementation: - There are two main roles in ISO implementation cycle one is the internal auditor who knows the ISO implementation work thoroughly and hồ ba bể helps out the industry in maintaining all required documents for successfully implementation of ISO standard. There are several institutes which provides internal auditor training program by serving them internal auditor training. In the entire training of internal auditor program, one learns the several nitty-gritty of ISO implementation. The second main role is external auditor an external auditor in ISO implementation is the person comes from the accreditation body. External auditor checks the work done by the internal auditor in terms the documentation.
