A few weeks later I received a call from Individualogist Review Joy. She was panicked, emotional, and very upset. Turns out that while in Geneva, she made the mistake of mentioning they were coming from Romania. Once again they found themselves detained in an airport awaiting answers. Amnesty International got involved and it didn't help, they were sent back to Bucharest. No money, no job, no home, and no one to care for them."Why Lord." I don't understand. Where are you in all of this? There are times in our lives when we see the outcome of a situation and it is not what we expected. This was one of those times in my life that I was wrestling with why God would stop this from happening. What I didn't know was that God was still working behind the scenes in His perfect timing, in His perfect way, and legally I might add.Patrick submitted an essay about his life as a Sudanese refugee to the EU Summit Conference being held in Geneva. Three people were picked out of many essays from Romania to fly for free to Geneva. They would be put up in a beautiful hotel and receive a daily allowance during their stay. This would be the equivalent of 6 months pay in Romania. This would be their ticket to essay contest! Did they go to the summit? No. They flew right up to London and claimed political and religious asylum. Ten years later you can't imagine the life they are living with their two children. About a year ago, Joy called me to say they had just become citizens. I love Psalm 103:19, "His Sovereignty rules over all." While things appeared hopeless and out of control for Patrick and Joy when we first came to know them, God graciously reminds me just how in control He really is!
