Abstract

Abstract. The large increase in the elderly population in Indonesia will be a burden if many of them experience health problems. This community service is carried out through screening methods and health education. The screening process is carried out in pre-elderly and elderly communities as an effort to prevent sarcopenia early with the help of health cadres. Health education is provided to the pre-elderly and elderly community in an effort to increase understanding about sarcopenia. Based on the results that have been achieved in the preparation stages including preliminary studies, problem identification, and preparation of instruments. The screening results showed that 30 pre-elderly and elderly (100%) had low muscle mass. Of the 30 pre-elderly and elderly, 93.7% had possible sarcopenia status. Further education and diagnosis by local health services is very necessary as an effort to prevent and control the health of pre-elderly and elderly people at the Pancasila Elderly School, Kenteng Bandungan Village, Semarang Regency.
