Distribution of Migas and Multiplier Effect for Local Revenue Income in Kutai Kartanegara Regency
Abstract
The existence of the upstream oil and gas sector in addition to having a direct impact, will also have an indirect impact as well as a multiplier effect on the economy. Therefore, the contribution of the upstream oil and gas sector needs to be managed properly by the local government of Kutai Kartanegara to manage funds from oil and gas revenue sharing in the form of the Petroleum Fund. Based on the above background, this study was conducted to analyze the contribution of the oil and gas sub-sector in improving regional development and supporting the welfare of the people in Kutai Kartanegara district. The research problems include (1) How is the spatial distribution pattern of the upstream oil and gas industry in Kutai Kartanegara (2) Is there a forward linkage or backward linkage as well as a multiplier effect between oil and gas industries in Kutai Kartanegara (3) How big is the contribution of the regional oil and gas sector to local revenue in Kutai Kartanegara; The results of this study are: (1) the distribution pattern of oil and gas in Kutai Kartanegara has a clustered distribution pattern. (2) There are forward linkages and backward linkages between oil and gas industries, namely: upstream and downstream industries that have a multiplier impact on the economic sector in Kutai Kartanegara district; (3) The contribution of oil and gas in Kutai Kartanegara is the largest contributor compared to other district/cities in East Kalimantan Province.
