            Interest and motivation is something that exists in a person who grows with certain needs and goals, in this case swimming is a sport that is ofeten of interest to early childhood, the introduction of this sport is also given during physical education learning activities at school. The purpose of this study was todetermine the interest and moyivation of students towards swimming in SD AL-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah pekalongan City.


            This type of research is a survey with a qualitative descriptive approach with the research subjects of the principal, teacher corners and students of SD Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, interview and documentation. The technique of checking yhe validity of the data uses triangulation to compare thw results of data collection. Data analysis uses (data reduction, data presentation) to draw conclusions.


            The results shoed that the interest and motivation at Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah Elementary School Had a high interest in swimming, but with the school’s decision to eliminate swimming, the student lacked maximum knowledge of swimming so that studens took swimming lessons outside of the activity. Learning to teach in schools.


            This conlusion is that students at Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah Elementary School have a very high level of interest and motivation toward swimming so that many student take swimming lessons outside of school, even though they cannot apply swimming directly inside the school. Suggestions for the foundation to consider in the future regarding swimming sports because students' interest in swimming is quite high.
