SEJARAH PERKEMBANGAN KLENTENG GIE YONG BIO DI LASEM DAN PENGARUHNYA MASYARAKAT 1967 –1998

Abstract

The purpose of this study describes the history of the temple in Lasem Gie Yong Bio and Bio Yong Gie pagoda influence in Lasem on social, economic and cultural surroundings. The method used in this study is the method of historical research. In this study, the method used in stages , ie, heuristics, historical criticism, interpretation and historiography . In the New Order era, although the Soeharto government prohibits openly conducting keep temple Yong Gie Bio exist. The existence of this temple Bio Yong Gie because public awareness and local governments around the pagoda on the basis of various considerations. Activities are held at the Shrine Gie Yong Bio able to improve the economic conditions surrounding communities and maintain harmonious inter-ethnic relations in Lasem. On the other hand temple Yong Gie Bio indirectly provide employment and income , especially for the transportation service providers, vendors and food in Lasem batik because of the visitors at the temple that sometimes require them. On the cultural side, the pagoda is very influential in promoting regional culture Lasem.

Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan sejarah Klenteng Gie Yong Bio di Lasem dan pengaruh Klenteng Gie Yong Bio di Lasem terhadap kondisi sosial, ekonomi dan budaya masyarakat sekitarnya. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian sejarah. Pada penelitian ini metode tersebut digunakan secara bertahap, yakni heuristik, kritik sejarah,  interpretasi  dan historiografi. Pada masa Orde Baru, meskipun pemerintahan Soeharto melarang menyelenggarakan kegiatan secara terbuka tetap membuat Klenteng Gie  Yong Bio eksis. Eksistensi Klenteng Gie Yong Bio ini karena kepedulian masyarakat dan pemerintah daerah sekitar klenteng atas dasar berbagai pertimbangan. Kegiatan yang diselenggarakan di Klenteng Gie Yong Bio tersebut mampu memperbaiki kondisi perekonomian masyarakat sekitarnya dan menjaga hubungan harmonis antar etnis di Lasem. Di sisi lain Klenteng Gie Yong Bio secara tidak langsung memberikan pekerjaan dan pendapatan terutama bagi para penyedia jasa transportasi, pedagang batik dan makanan di Lasem karena adanya pengunjung di klenteng tersebut yang terkadang memerlukan mereka. Pada segi budaya, klenteng ini sangat berpengaruh dalam mempromosikan budaya daerah Lasem.
