Abstrak


Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa dan penggunaan media yang belum sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa kelas satu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media big book sebagai media membaca permulaan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Reasearch and Development (R&D). Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan Borg and Gall dengan mengadaptasi 8 tahapan pengembangannya yaitu, (1)  identifikasi potensi dan masalah;( 2) pengumpulan data; (3) desain produk; (4) validasi desain; (5) revisi desain; (6) uji coba produk skala kecil; (7) revisi produk; (8) uji coba produk skala besar. Subjek penelitian ini adala seluruh siswa kelas satu SDN Sukorejo 02. Teknik pengumpulan data dilkakukan dengan  wawancara, observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Hasil uji kelayakan media big book menunjukkan bahwa media big book   sangat layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran dengan persentase penilaian ahli media sebesar 86,5%, dan dari ahli materi sebesar 80,3 %. Berdasarkan hasil belajar pretest dan posttest media big book efektif digunakan  dalam pembelajaran, dengan hasil t-test sebesar 0,00 < 0,05 dan N-Gain sebesar 0,74 dengan kategori tinggi.  Dapat disimpulkan bahwa media big book efektif terhadap keterampilan membaca permulaan dengan metode suku kata siswa kelas satu.

This research was motivated by the low skills of students' early reading and the use of media were not in accordance with the characteristics of first-grade students. This study aimed to develop the big book media as a medium for early reading. This type of research was a Research and Development (R & D) design. The development model used was the Borg and Gall development model by adapting 8 stages of development, as follows: (1) identification of potential and problems, (2) data collection; (3) product design; (4) design validation; (5) design revision; (6) small scale product trials; (7) product revision; (8) large scale product trials. The subject of this research was all of first-grade students of SDN Sukorejo 02. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, questionnaire, and documentation. The results of the big book media feasibility test showed that the big book media was very suitable for use in learning with a percentage of media expert ratings of 86.5%, and from material experts at 80.3%. Based on the learning results of pretest and posttest, the big book media was effectively used in learning, with the results of the t-test of 0.00 <0.05 and N-Gain of 0.74 with the high category. It could be concluded that the big book media was effective towards the early reading skill with the first-grade students’ syllabic method.
