Literature is creative work that describes the facts of life in unique ways, such as through fairy tales, short stories, and novels. This research discusses the social aspects in the fairy tales La Belle et la Bête by Marie Leprince de Beaumont and La Belle au bois dormant by Charles Perrault using a descriptive qualitative method. This research uses Ian Watt’s theory of literary sociology. This study includes 197 data points from the fairy tale La Belle et la Bête and 90 from La Belle au bois dormant. The analysis shows five social aspects in the two-fairy tales: social class and hierarchy, gender roles and social stereotypes, morality and social values, symbolism in society, and historical and cultural context. Of the five social aspects, three are dominant: social class and hierarchy, morality and social values, and symbolism in society.
