This research analyzes the forms of emphasis in President Emmanuel Macron’s speeches delivered between May and September 2025. Using Daniel Gaatone’s theory, this study aims to determine which types of emphatic sentences the president uses and which is the most frequent in his speeches. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with 48 data points taken from six YouTube videos. The analysis identifies two main categories: extraction and dislocation. Extraction is the most varied process, which consists of isolating a word to emphasize it, often using the structure “It is...that.” Dislocation, on the other hand, consists of detaching a word at the beginning or end of a sentence to draw attention to it, necessarily repeating it with a pronoun. The results of the analysis reveal that extraction is much more frequent, accounting for 72.92% of the data, while dislocation accounts for only 27.08%. This significant difference shows that President Macron prefers a highly structured and formal style of speech to assert specific facts and impose his authority, rather than a conversational or spontaneous style that makes greater use of dislocation.
