Abstract

This research develops an animated video learning medium using Wondershare Filmora to support French oral comprehension learning on the theme “Présenter quelqu’un” among students of class XI-5 at SMAN 21 Medan. This development is based on an analysis of students’ needs and the objectives of French language learning. The development follows three phases adapted from the Fenrich model: analysis, design, and development. The video presents vocabulary, expressions, and examples of dialogue related to the theme “Présenter quelqu’un”. It combines visual, audio, and animated elements to facilitate students’ understanding and make learning more interesting. The images and animations help students connect the vocabulary with simple situations that are close to everyday communication. The exercises presented in the video also allow students to understand and practice the learning content. Thus, the video provides students with a simpler and more enjoyable way to learn French vocabulary and expressions. The validation results yield scores of 80 from the content expert and 90 from the media expert. Suggestions regarding font size and the addition of images were considered during the revision of the medium. After revision, the medium is considered valid and suitable for use as a complementary medium for French learning. This medium can help students understand the vocabulary and expressions of the learning theme through a simple, visual, and progressive presentation. It can also support teachers in presenting the learning content and provide students with a more dynamic learning experience. This research focuses on the development and validation of the product and does not experimentally assess the medium’s effectiveness.
