Analysis of the Quality of Knitted Bags Using Knitting Techniques Based on the Differences in Polyester and Nylon Yarn Types

This study aims to analyze the quality of knitting bags based on the differences in the use of yarn types. A quantitative approach was employed involving 30 panelists, consisting of 3 expert panelists and 27 trained panelists. The research objects were two handmade knitted bags made using two types of yarn: polyester and nylon, with identical designs and production techniques to minimize bias. Quality assessment was based on four indicators: shape, aesthetics, color, and size. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney U nonparametric test after conducting normality and homogeneity tests. The results indicate that both knitted bag products exhibit very good quality, with mean scores for each indicator exceeding 81%. The Mann-Whitney U test yielded a significant value of 0.988 (>0.05), indicating no significant difference in quality between polyester and nylon knitted bags. Therefore, it can be concluded that the type of yarn does not have a significant difference on the quality of knitted bags, and yarn selection can be adjusted according to design requirements, cost, considerations and user preferences.
