This study examines whether sustainability-oriented innovation contributes to green employee performance through green employee engagement in Indonesian non-formal education. A quantitative explanatory design was employed involving 258 employees in structural and managerial roles at a national non-formal education institution in Indonesia. Respondents were selected through cluster proportional random sampling, data were collected using a structured questionnaire, and the hypotheses were tested using covariance-based structural equation modeling with LISREL. The findings show that sustainability-oriented innovation positively affects green employee engagement and that green employee engagement strongly predicts green employee performance. The structural estimates are also consistent with an indirect pathway in which sustainability oriented innovation contributes to green employee performance through stronger green employee engagement. These results indicate that sustainability-oriented innovation becomes more effective in improving employee-level environmental performance when it is accompanied by employees’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral engagement with organizational green goals. This study highlights green employee engagement as a key mechanism linking innovation-oriented sustainability efforts to performance in nonformal education.
