Archiving

Rainbow: Journal of Literature, Linguistics and Culture Studies is committed to preserving the scholarly articles it publishes to ensure their long-term availability and accessibility. To achieve this, Rainbow employs multiple archiving services, including PKP PN Archiving Service and Portico, while also adhering to the principles of the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) initiative under official agreements and the use of free plugins.

PKP PN Archiving Service

Rainbow participates in the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) Preservation Network (PN) Archiving Service to ensure the preservation of its published articles. This archiving service allows JURNAL ARBITRER to safely store and maintain digital copies of its articles in a secure and decentralized network, ensuring their availability for future generations of readers and researchers.

LOCKSS Concept

Rainbow adopts the principles of the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) initiative, which is based on the concept of preserving content through distributed archiving. By maintaining multiple copies of its articles across different locations, Rainbow ensures the redundancy and resilience of its archival system, minimizing the risk of content loss and guaranteeing continued access to its publications.

PKP PN Archiving Plugin

Rainbow utilises the PKP PN Archiving Plugin, a free and efficient tool the Public Knowledge Project provides. This plugin facilitates archiving by automatically depositing articles into the PKP PN Archiving Service, contributing to the widespread dissemination and preservation of Rainbow's scholarly content.

Compliance and Review

Rainbow regularly reviews and monitors its archiving policies and practices to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with the evolving digital preservation standards. The journal remains committed to providing enduring access to its publications and will continue to explore new archiving solutions to enhance its preservation efforts.
