Abstract

Abstract. Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior that may often be encountered in the school environment. The school environment or boarding school as a place for children to be prepared to become the next generation of the nation is often in the spotlight as a place that is vulnerable to acts of violence against children. Islamic boarding schools as one of the educational institutions are not immune from accusations that apply to the world of education generally which treat children "hard". Goswami (2012) in his research on the relationship between social relationships with subjective well being in children said that children who were victims of bullying and unfair treatment would have low subjective well being. That is, victims of bullying tend to often experience feelings of dissatisfaction with their lives, and rarely experience pleasant feelings. These negative feelings can trigger the victim to be a bullying agent, the senior has a reason that such an act is a tradition that he also received when he was a junior. This study aims to see whether there is an impact of social support and self-esteem on subjective well being of bullied students in boarding school. Subjects in this study were 196 bullied students of Daar el Qolam Boarding School in 2018, which was chosen by using nonprobability sampling technique. The method of collecting data uses the scale of social support, self esteem and subjective well being scale. Data analysis technique used is Multiple Regression Analysis with level of significance 0,05. The results showed that there was a significant impact of social support and self-esteem on subjective well being. The proportion of variance of subjective well being described by all independent variables is 22.6%, while the remaining 77.4% is influenced by other variables outside this study.
