Focus and Scope

The journal focus and scope of Politik Indonesia: Indonesian Political Science Review is to publish research articles within the field of an advanced understanding of how politics and governance studies, particularly discusses local politics issues as well as ethical politics in governance implementation through political discourse. The scope research based paper on the interactions between politics and governance, national and local election; politics and local policy; political thought and ethics.

Peer Review Process

The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editor. It will be evaluated in the office, whether it is suitable for the Politik Indonesia: Indonesian Political Science Review (IPSR) focus and scope or has a major methodological flaw and similiarity score by using Turnitin.

The manuscript will be at least two anonymous reviewers (Blind Review). Reviewers' comments are then sent to the relevant author for necessary actions and responses.

The suggested decision will be evaluated in an editorial board meeting. Afterwards, the editor will send the final decision to the corresponding author.

Review Outcomes

Utilizing feedback from the peer review process, the Editor will make a final publication decision. The review process will take approximately 4 to 12 weeks. Decisions categories include:

  • Reject - Rejected manuscripts will not be published and authors will not have the opportunity to resubmit a revised version of the manuscript to IPSR.
  • Resubmit for Review - The submission needs to be re-worked, but with significant changes, may be accepted. However, It will require a second round of review.
  • Revisions required - Manuscripts receiving an accept-pending revisions decision will be published in IPSR under the conditions that minor / major modifications are made. Revisions will be reviewed by an editor to ensure necessary updates are made prior to publications.
  • Accept - Accepted manuscripts will be published in the current form with no further modifications required.


Publication Frequency

The journal was first published in January 2016. 
During 2016-2019, the journal published twice a year (January and July).
Starting in 2020, t
he journal published three times a year (April, August and December).


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.



IPSR stores back issues and current articles following LOCKSS idea of keeping lots of copies of our items on several servers to keep them safe. Archives are stored in Universitas Negeri Semarang' repository server and all of them are digitally submitted to Indonesian National Library's Indonesia OneSearch and periodically harvested by OCLC WorldCat. IPSR also implementing PKP Private LOCKSS Network (PLN) preservation function as can be seen in The Keepers Registry record here.


Screening for Plagiarism

IPSR Editorial Team will ensure that every published article will not exceed 20% similarity score. Plagiarism screening will be conducted by IPSR Editorial Team using Turnitin Plagiarism Checker.

Policy on Prior Publication

The manuscript that submitted into this journal will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin. Regarding prior publication, we understand that authors and institutions appreciate clarity on publisher policies on prior publication and how these might sit alongside institutional requirements for authors to deposit their e-theses.

To avoid any doubt, Politik Indonesia: Indonesian Political Science Review does not count publication of an academic thesis as prior publication.

As soon as IPSR has published an article, the version of the article that has been submitted, accepted for publication, and the published version can be used for a variety of non-commercial scholarly purposes, subject to full attribution under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Author(s) may deposit and use the document as follows:

  • on personal website
  • on the company or institutional repository
  • on subject repositories
  • on Social Collaboration Networks (SCNs) that have signed up to the Voluntary STM Sharing Principles
  • with individuals requesting personal use for teaching and training within the author’s institution, and as part of an author’s grant applications or theses/doctorate submissions.

Authors may post the version of the article that was submitted to the journal (pre-print) to the above resources, at any time.

Exceptions to this policy include:

  • the systematic upload or collation of IPSR's articles across repositories,
