Housing needs are an important problem because population growth caused by massive births and urbanization are not comparable to the availability of housing facilities. This condition has encouraged the development of community settlements to live in flats. The formulation of the problem in this study are as follows: (1) What is the socio-economic and cultural background of the people living in Bandarharjo Flats? (2) How is the pattern of social interaction that forms in the community of Bandarharjo Flats?

Kebutuhan perumahan menjadi sebuah masalah penting karena pertumbuhan penduduk yang disebabkan kelahiran dan urbanisasi yang besar-besaran tidak sebanding dengan tersedianya fasilitas perumahan. Kondisi tersebut telah mendorong semakin berkembangnya pemukiman masyarakat untuk tinggal di rumah susun. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini sebagai berikut: (1) Bagaimana latar belakang sosial ekonomi dan budaya masyarakat penghuni Rumah Susun Bandarharjo? (2) Bagaimana pola interaksi sosial yang terbentuk pada komunitas penghuni Rumah Susun Bandarharjo?
