Archiving and Deposit Policy

1. Policy Statement

Indonesia Discourse is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility, preservation, and availability of its published scholarly content. The journal recognizes the importance of digital preservation and responsible repository practices in maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and supporting the continued dissemination of research.

This policy establishes the principles governing the digital archiving of journal content, the deposit of published articles in repositories, and the rights of authors to preserve and disseminate their scholarly work. The journal aims to maintain access to its publications and minimize the risk of permanent content loss resulting from technical failures, changes in publishing platforms, or other disruptions.

2. Digital Preservation

The journal seeks to preserve its published articles, metadata, and associated scholarly information through appropriate digital preservation practices. Preservation activities may include maintaining secure digital copies, performing regular backups, retaining publication metadata, and implementing suitable technical measures to protect content against accidental loss or unauthorized alteration.

The journal will provide information about specific digital preservation services or external archiving arrangements on its official website when such services have been implemented and verified. Any preservation service identified by the journal must accurately reflect the arrangements actually in place.

3. Archiving of Published Content

Indonesia Discourse aims to retain digital copies of its published content, including full-text articles, bibliographic metadata, abstracts, and other relevant publication information. The journal endeavors to maintain the availability and integrity of its published record through appropriate website maintenance, backup procedures, and preservation arrangements.

Where technically and operationally feasible, the journal may use established digital preservation services, institutional repositories, or other trusted archiving systems to provide additional protection and support continued access to published content.

4. Author Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit

Authors publishing in Indonesia Discourse retain copyright in their articles and may deposit, share, and disseminate their published works in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, academic profiles, and other appropriate scholarly platforms.

Articles published by the journal are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, unless an applicable exception is explicitly identified. Authors may therefore share and redistribute the published version of their articles in accordance with the terms of that license, without requiring additional permission from the journal.

Authors are encouraged to deposit the version of record, where permitted by the applicable license and any relevant third-party rights, together with complete bibliographic information, the journal title, publication year, volume and issue, page numbers or article identifier where applicable, and the DOI or permanent article URL when available.

5. Permitted Versions for Deposit

Subject to applicable copyright, licensing, and third-party rights, authors may deposit the following versions of their work:

  • Submitted Manuscript: The version originally submitted to the journal before peer review.
  • Accepted Manuscript: The version incorporating revisions accepted for publication after peer review.
  • Published Version of Record: The final version formally published by Indonesia Discourse, including its final bibliographic information and DOI where available.

Authors should clearly identify the deposited version and provide a link to the official published article whenever possible. The version of record should be cited as the authoritative publication.

6. Licensing and Attribution Requirements

Deposited and redistributed articles must comply with the applicable license and relevant legal requirements. For articles published under CC BY 4.0, users must provide appropriate attribution to the original author or authors, identify the source of publication, include a link to the license, and indicate whether changes have been made.

Authors and repository managers should preserve the article's bibliographic information, copyright statement, licensing information, and DOI or permanent URL where available. Third-party materials that are excluded from the article's license may require separate permission before redistribution.

7. Repository Deposit and Access

The journal encourages authors to deposit their published articles in recognized institutional or subject repositories to improve discoverability, facilitate research dissemination, and support long-term scholarly access.

Repository deposits should include accurate metadata and a persistent link to the official journal publication whenever possible. Authors and repository managers are encouraged to maintain the integrity of deposited files and to identify corrections, retractions, or other publication updates where applicable.

8. Metadata and Discoverability

Indonesia Discourse seeks to maintain accurate and consistent bibliographic metadata for its published content. Metadata may include article titles, author names and affiliations, abstracts, keywords, publication dates, volume and issue information, DOI or permanent URLs, and licensing information.

Where supported by the journal's publishing platform and technical infrastructure, metadata may be made available through interoperable systems and indexing or discovery services to facilitate citation, retrieval, and scholarly reuse.

9. Continuity of Access

The journal endeavors to maintain access to its published content through appropriate website maintenance, backup procedures, and digital preservation arrangements. In the event of a platform migration, technical disruption, or other operational change, the journal will make reasonable efforts to preserve publication files, metadata, and persistent links.

If the journal ceases publication or becomes unable to maintain its current platform, it will seek appropriate arrangements to preserve its published content and support continued access, subject to available resources and applicable agreements.

10. Policy Compliance and Review

Authors, editors, and repository managers are expected to respect the journal's copyright and licensing policy, publication ethics requirements, and applicable legal obligations when archiving or redistributing published content.

This policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect developments in digital preservation, open access publishing, repository standards, and scholarly communication practices. Information concerning specific preservation services, repository arrangements, or changes to deposit conditions will be published on the journal's official website when applicable.

11. Commitment to Long-Term Preservation

Through this policy, Indonesia Discourse reaffirms its commitment to preserving the scholarly record, supporting responsible author self-archiving, and facilitating long-term access to research on Indonesia and its wider regional and global contexts. The journal recognizes that reliable preservation and transparent deposit practices are essential components of responsible scholarly publishing.
