Copyrights and Licensing Policy
1. Copyright Ownership
Authors publishing in Indonesia Discourse retain the copyright of their published works without transferring ownership of their copyright to the journal or publisher. Authors retain their rights without restriction, subject to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license and applicable law.
By submitting and publishing their manuscripts in Indonesia Discourse, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, reproduce, display, and make the articles publicly available as necessary for scholarly publication and dissemination. This arrangement does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to the journal.
2. Open Access License
All articles published in Indonesia Discourse are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, unless otherwise explicitly indicated for particular content.
Under this license, anyone may share, copy, redistribute, adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the published material for any purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that the license conditions are respected. Appropriate credit must be given to the original author and source, a link to the license must be provided, and any changes made must be indicated.
The full terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license are available at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ .
3. Rights Granted to Readers and Users
The CC BY 4.0 license permits readers, researchers, educators, institutions, and other users to access, download, copy, distribute, translate, adapt, and reuse published articles without requesting additional permission from the journal or the authors, provided that the applicable license conditions are fulfilled.
Users must provide appropriate attribution, include a reference to the license, and indicate whether modifications have been made. Users must not imply that the original authors or the journal endorse any adaptation or reuse unless explicit permission has been obtained.
4. Author Rights and Reuse
Authors retain the right to use, share, distribute, reproduce, archive, and reuse their published articles without restriction imposed by the journal, subject to applicable law and the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.
Authors may deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, academic networking platforms, and other appropriate digital repositories. Authors may also reuse their work in books, teaching materials, reports, presentations, and other scholarly or professional publications.
When reusing or redistributing their published articles, authors are encouraged to provide appropriate bibliographic information and a persistent link or digital object identifier (DOI), where available, to the original publication in Indonesia Discourse.
5. Attribution Requirements
Any reuse, redistribution, or adaptation of material published under CC BY 4.0 must provide appropriate credit to the original author or authors, identify the source of publication, include a link to the applicable license, and indicate whether changes have been made.
Attribution must not suggest that the original authors, editors, or journal endorse the user or the manner in which the material is reused. Users must also avoid presenting adapted material in a misleading manner or misrepresenting the original research findings.
6. Third-Party Materials
Authors are responsible for ensuring that third-party materials included in their manuscripts, such as photographs, illustrations, figures, tables, maps, and other copyrighted content, are used with appropriate attribution and permission where required.
Third-party materials are not automatically covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license when they are identified as excluded from that license or are otherwise subject to separate rights. Users must check the relevant credit lines, license notices, and permissions before reusing such materials.
7. Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, properly attributed, and do not infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of third parties. Authors must disclose any material for which separate permission or licensing conditions apply.
Authors are also responsible for ensuring that the publication of their work complies with relevant legal, ethical, contractual, and institutional obligations. The journal may request evidence of permission for third-party materials where necessary.
8. Publisher and Journal Rights
Indonesia Discourse is authorized to publish and disseminate accepted articles under the CC BY 4.0 license while respecting the authors' ownership of copyright. The journal may perform editorial formatting, copyediting, typesetting, digital publication, metadata dissemination, and archiving as necessary for the publication process.
The journal's publication and distribution rights are non-exclusive and do not prevent authors or other users from exercising the rights permitted under CC BY 4.0. No provision of this policy transfers copyright ownership from authors to the journal or publisher.
9. Licensing and Open Access Commitment
This policy supports the journal's commitment to open access scholarly communication, knowledge sharing, and the unrestricted dissemination of research within the scope of the applicable license.
By retaining copyright and publishing under CC BY 4.0, authors enable their work to be accessed, shared, and reused by the global scholarly community while maintaining attribution to the original creators. This approach promotes transparency, collaboration, and the broader impact of research published in Indonesia Discourse.
10. License Information
All articles published in Indonesia Discourse are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0), except where a specific exception is clearly identified.
