Peer Review Policy
Submitted manuscripts will be pre-reviewed by the editors, determining whether the manuscripts have conformed to Journal of Indonesian Legal Studies (JILS) submission guidelines. Manuscripts which have conformed to the journal's style will be peer-reviewed. Journal of Indonesian Legal Studies (JILS) is a double blind peer-reviewed journal which involves many reviewers of experts in relevant field of laws. Final decision of manuscript acceptance is solely decided by the editors according to reviewers' comment.
Manuscripts will be sent to at least two reviewers based on their expertise and specialization or their historical experience in reviewing the manuscripts. Journal of Indonesian Legal Studies (JILS) has reviewed forms in order to keep the same items reviewed by two reviewers. Then, the editorial board makes a decision based on the reviewer's comments or advice. Reviewers give their assessment on originality, clarity of presentation, contribution to the legal studies, Journal of Indonesian Legal Studies (JILS) has four kinds of decisions:
- Accepted, as it is
- Accepted by Minor Revisions (let authors revise with stipulated time)
- Accepted by Major Revisions (let authors revise within the stipulated time)
- Rejected (generally, on the grounds of the outside of scope and aim, major technical description problems, lack of clarity of presentation)
- Initial Review: The editor evaluates the submitted manuscript to determine if the content is suitable for the journal. The manuscript is also subjected to a similarity check procedure to identify any indication of plagiarism. Manuscripts with contents that are not suitable for the journal or with a high percentage of similarity will be returned immediately to the author(s).
- Peer Review: Submitted manuscripts that have passed the initial review are subjected to double-blind peer review, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. Minimum of two reviewers are assigned to evaluate and provide the recommendation for a manuscript. In assigning the reviewers, the editor is responsible to avoid the conflict of interest during the review process.
- Decision: The editor makes the final decision on the acceptability of a manuscript based on the comments and recommendation of the reviewers.
