Pelatihan Self-Esteem Pada Remaja di Panti Asuhan “X†Surabaya

Abstract

Abstrak. Sebagian besar anak yang tinggal di panti asuhan memiliki dinamika psikologis yang berbeda dengan anak lain pada umumnya. Permasalahan, pergesekan antara teman di dalam panti, dan ketiadaan peran orang tua lengkap dalam hidup anak akan menimbulkan perasaan inkompeten jika dibandingkan dengan anak lain dan muncul pula perasaan tidak berharga. Dua aspek ini akan mempengaruhi self-esteemyang dimiliki anak.Self-esteem sangat dibutuhkan oleh anak.Self-esteem yang baik dikaitkan dengan regulasi diri yang baik, kesehatan mental dan tingginya psychology wellbeing. Sebaliknya, anak yang memiliki self-esteem rendah dikaitkan dengan rendahnya prestasi akademik, rendahnya motivasi belajar bahkan kecenderungan depresi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelatihan self-esteem untuk meningkatkan self-esteem pada remaja di panti asuhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif eksperimen dengan desain one group pretestposttest design dengan 1 kalipretestdan 1 kali posttest. Teknik sampling menggunakanpurposive sampling. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah pemberian Pelatihan Self-esteem. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSES) dari Rosenberg. Analisis uji hipotesis menggunakan wilcoxon signed rank test dengan bantuan softwarepengolah data. Berdasarkan hasil dari perhitungan Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test didapatkan hasil positive ranks 14 dengan nilai z didapat -3.277 dengan p value (asymp sig 2 tailed) 0,001(< 0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara skor self-esteem sebelum dan setelah adanya treatment. Positive ranks menunjukkan sampel nilai kelompok kedua (posttest) lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai kelompok pertama (pretest). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan self-esteem dapat meningkatkan self-esteem pada remaja di Panti Asuhan “X†Surabaya.

Abstract.Most children who live in orphanages have psychological dynamics that are different from other children in general. Problems, friction between friends in the orphanage, and the absence of a complete parent role in a child's life will lead to feelings of incompetence when compared with other children and feelings of worthlessness arise. These two aspects will affect children's self-esteem. Self-esteem is needed by children. Good self-esteem is associated with good self regulation, mental health and high psychology wellbeing. Conversely, children who have low self-esteem are associated with low academic achievement, low motivation to learn and even a tendency to depression. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of self-esteem training to improve self-esteem in adolescents in orphanages. This study uses a type of quantitative research experiment with the design of one group pretest posttest design with 1 pretest and 1 posttest. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The treatment given is the provision of Self-esteem Training. The research data was collected using Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSES) from Rosenberg. Hypothesis analysis uses the Wilcoxon-marked rank test with the help of data processing software. Based on the results of the calculation of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test obtained a positive ranking of 14 results with z values obtained -3,277 with p values (asymp sig 2 tailed) 0.001 (<0.05). This shows a significant difference between self-esteem scores before and after treatment. Positive rating shows the sample value of the second group (posttest) is higher than the value of the first group (pretest). Can increase the contribution of self-esteem can increase self-esteem in adolescents at the "X" Orphanage in Surabaya
