STRATEGI MANAJEMEN KONFLIK ANTARPRIBADI ANTARBUDAYA PADA MAHASISWA PERANTAU LUAR PULAU JAWA DI KOTA SEMARANG

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori strategi manajemen konflik yang dikemukakan oleh Goldstein (1990) yang mencakup lima strategi yakni confrontation, public private behavior, emotional expression, conflict approach avoidance dan self disclosure. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik quota sampling yang dilakukan kepada 500 mahasiswa perantau yang berasal dari luar Pulau Jawa berusia 18-30 tahun dengan jenjang pendidikan D3,S1 dan S2. Skala yang digunakan adalah skala strategi manajemen konflik yang diadaptasi dari conflict comuniccation style yang dikonstruk oleh Goldstein (1999). Skala original CCS terdiri dari 75 item. Uji validitas dan reliabilitas dilakukan kepada 50 mahasiswa perantau. Hasil uji reliabilitas didapatkan koefisien sebesar 0.802 serta 27 item yang valid yang digunakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mahasiswa perantau dari luar Pulau Jawa menggunakan conflict approach avoidance sebagai strategi dalam penyelesaian konflik yang dialami. Setelah conflict approach avoidance, selanjutnya dengan emotional expression, public private behavior, self disclosure dan yang terakhir confrontation. Conflict approach avoidance dianggap efektif dengan alasan menghindari konflik yang terjadi dan pemicunya dapat mengurangi munculnya konflik baru dengan cara cuek, diam, pergi dan pura-pura tidak mengetahui apa yang terjadi.

Abstract. This research use conflict management strategy theory which is proposed by Goldstein (1999). The theory including strategies namely Confrontation, Public Private Behavior, Emotional Expression, Conflict Approach Avoidance, Self Disclosure.This research use a quantitative descriptive method. Sample is taken by using quota sampling technique, is done for 500 immigrant student in university. Immigrant students who comes from out of Java Island, attain the age of 18-30 years old with education ladder D3, S1, & S2. Scale which is used, is strategy management of conflict scale, adapted from conflict communication style constructed by Goldstein (1999).Original conflict communication style consist of 75 items. Validity test and reliability is done for 50 immigrant university students. The result of reliability test is obtained coefficient in the amount of 0,802 and 27 items who are valid to use. The result of research shows, that immigrant students from university, come from out of Java Island use conflict approach avoidance as strategy in conflict solution that they experienced. After conflict approach avoidance, then emotional expression, public private behavior, self disclosure, and the last is confrontation. Conflict approach avoidance is considered more effective with the reason avoiding conflict that occur and its cause can decrease appearance the new conflict with the manner indifferent, silent, go, and pretend not knowing what happen does.
