Abstract

The prurposes of the research were to improve learning motivation and develop performance skills of students in doing experiment through the use of Combination Experiment Laboratory by Simulation (CELS) on elasticity experiment of rigid body. CELS is an experiment activity combining between verification and computer-based experiments including either computer simulation or video developed from the internet. This research used R&D method and its research subjects were “Basic Physics Experiment†students of an education institute located in West Java. The research stages developed were analyzing the need, designing the course, developing the media, evaluating the product consisting of expert validation, one to one evaluation, small group evaluation and field evaluation, and producing CELS final product.  Research data were gathered by using student learning motivation questionnaire and performance assessment based observation sheet. The Liker scale analysis was used in order to gain the percentage of learning motivation achievement, while the rating scale was used to gather performance assessment. The result showed that the use of CELS can increase the learning motivation of the students and develop performance skills of students including preparing tools and material, performing the experiment and using the measurement result to derive the conclusion.
