Abstract

Barium hexaferrite BaFe12O19 (BHF) is an important permanent magnet used particularly for magnetic recording applied in microwave devices. Nanocrystalline BHF powder was prepared by sol gel auto combustion method. Hence the mole ratios of Ba2+/Fe3+ were varied at 1:12; 1:11.5 and 1:11. Heating at 850oC for 10 hours for each sample was than done to get final formation of nanocrystalline BHF. The data from XRD confirmed that BHF of ratio 1:12 has same crystall parameters as of ratio 1:11. In addition, position of  diffraction pattern peak of sample of ratio 1:12and 1:11 was almost getting nearerespecially at a greater value of 2 θ. This result has relation with their magnetic properties having an extrim value of remanent and coersive. BHF of ratio 1:11.5 which the peak position is far from ratio 1:12 and 1:11 has value of remanent and coersive between of ratio 1:12 and 1:11. This sample is the samplehaving best ratio sinceit hasa single phase with diffraction pattern  fits with those of BHF standard with the highest value of best FoM of 90%,the finest grain of 22 nm and better magnetic properties
