The journal considers the following manuscript types. All submissions are subject to editorial screening and the applicable review process in accordance with the journal's editorial policies.
Research Articles present original research and substantive scholarly analysis. Submissions may employ doctrinal, conceptual, comparative, empirical, or other appropriate legal research approaches. Articles should clearly identify the research problem, explain the methodology where appropriate, present a rigorous analysis, and demonstrate an original contribution to legal scholarship.
Review Articles provide a critical and structured examination of existing literature, legal theories, legal developments, or scholarly debates relevant to the journal's scope. They should synthesize relevant sources, identify patterns or gaps in existing scholarship, and offer meaningful insights for future research and legal understanding.
Research Briefs present concise reports of original research findings, focused analyses, or significant observations relevant to legal studies and clinical legal education. They should communicate the research purpose, principal findings, and implications clearly and concisely while maintaining appropriate academic rigor.
Case Comments or Case Notes offer critical legal analysis of judicial decisions, court judgments, or other significant legal determinations. Submissions should explain the relevant legal issues, evaluate the reasoning and implications of the decision, and demonstrate its significance for legal doctrine, legal practice, or the development of law.
Legal Commentaries or Perspectives present reasoned academic arguments concerning current legal issues, regulatory developments, public policy, or emerging debates in legal scholarship. They should be grounded in relevant legal materials and scholarly sources and provide a clear, well-supported perspective on the issue discussed.
Book Reviews provide critical evaluations of scholarly books relevant to law, clinical legal education, access to justice, and related areas. They should summarize the book's central arguments, assess its strengths and limitations, and explain its contribution to the relevant field of scholarship.
Authors are responsible for selecting the appropriate manuscript type and ensuring that their submissions comply with the journal's focus, scope, and author guidelines. Each submission is subject to an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that proceed to peer review are evaluated in accordance with the journal's applicable review procedures and publication ethics policies.
