Electronic Filing and Manuscript Submission
Electronic submission procedures, manuscript requirements, editorial processing, and publication fees for the Indonesian Journal of Criminal Law Studies (IJCLS).
The Indonesian Journal of Criminal Law Studies (IJCLS) implements an electronic manuscript submission process to facilitate the efficient, transparent, and organized handling of scholarly manuscripts. The submission system supports communication between authors and the editorial team throughout the editorial and publication workflow.
Authors must submit manuscripts through the journal's designated electronic submission system and comply with the applicable Author Guidelines, manuscript template, Statement of Authenticity requirements, and editorial procedures.
1. Electronic Submission of Manuscripts
Authors must submit manuscripts electronically through the IJCLS submission platform. Manuscripts must be written in English and prepared in accordance with the journal's current Author Guidelines and official manuscript template.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the submission is complete and that all information entered into the system is accurate, including the manuscript title, full names of all authors, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and other information requested by the journal.
2. Manuscript Template and Statement of Authenticity
Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official IJCLS manuscript template and provide the required Statement of Authenticity in accordance with the journal's submission requirements.
Use the official template to ensure that your manuscript follows the journal's required structure and formatting.
Access Manuscript Template ↗Authors must complete and submit the required Statement of Authenticity to confirm the originality and accuracy of the submission and compliance with the journal's applicable authorship and publication ethics requirements.
Access Statement of Authenticity ↗Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format with one of the following file extensions: .doc, .docx, or .rtf. Authors should ensure that all required supporting documents are complete and submitted through the journal's electronic system.
3. Originality and Similarity Screening
Submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work and must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal simultaneously. Authors are responsible for the originality of their work, the accuracy of citations, and the proper acknowledgment of all sources.
Manuscripts are subject to similarity screening in accordance with the IJCLS Plagiarism Policy. Authors must follow the similarity threshold and documentation requirements established in that policy. Submissions that fail to meet the journal's originality requirements may be returned for improvement or rejected following editorial assessment.
4. Submission Checklist and Author Responsibilities
Before completing a submission, authors should ensure that all the following requirements have been met:
- The manuscript complies with the current IJCLS Author Guidelines.
- The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
- The manuscript follows the official IJCLS template.
- The required Statement of Authenticity has been completed and submitted.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and appropriately labeled.
- Permission has been obtained for copyrighted photographs, datasets, and other materials where required.
- The manuscript is provided in Microsoft Word format (.doc, .docx, or .rtf).
5. Initial Editorial Screening
After submission, the editorial team assesses whether the manuscript falls within the scope of IJCLS and meets the journal's basic submission, formatting, and ethical requirements. Submissions outside the journal's scope or failing to satisfy essential requirements may be rejected at this stage.
Passing the initial screening does not guarantee acceptance. Manuscripts remain subject to editorial assessment, peer review where applicable, revision requirements, and the final editorial decision.
6. Editorial Processing and Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening may be assigned to an editor for further assessment and, where appropriate, peer review in accordance with the IJCLS Peer Review Policy and Process.
Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial comments or reviewer recommendations. When a response to reviewers is requested, authors should provide a clear, point-by-point explanation of how each comment has been addressed. All communications concerning manuscript evaluation, revision, acceptance, or rejection should be handled through the journal's official communication channels.
7. Article Processing Charge (APC) and Publication Fees
Based on the Rector's Decree of Universitas Negeri Semarang Number B/258/UN37/HK.02/2026 concerning Academic Supporting Service Tariffs at the Institute for Research and Community Service of Universitas Negeri Semarang for the Year 2026, the publication fee provisions applicable to IJCLS are adjusted starting from Volume 11 (2026).
The Article Processing Charge (APC) for authors from Indonesia is IDR 4,000,000, in accordance with the applicable university provisions.
The applicable APC for international authors is determined separately in accordance with the applicable provisions of Universitas Negeri Semarang. The amount will be communicated through the official APC invoice issued after the manuscript has been declared eligible for publication. Cross-border transactions may result in differences in the converted amount due to exchange rates and administrative or transaction fees.
APC Invoice and Payment Procedure
The APC invoice will be issued through the IJCLS OJS system only after the manuscript has been declared eligible for publication based on the reviewers' recommendations and the final decision of the editorial team. Information in this section is provided for general guidance; applicable payment details and instructions will be communicated after the manuscript has been declared acceptable for publication.
The APC must be paid to the account or payment address designated by Universitas Negeri Semarang, in accordance with applicable university regulations. Authors should follow the official payment instructions stated in the APC invoice.
Separate Proofreading Service Fee
In addition to the APC, authors are required to pay a separate proofreading service fee. The amount and payment instructions will be communicated separately by email. Authors may use another professional proofreading service; however, Enago is strongly encouraged as an alternative to the proofreading facility previously provided by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Negeri Semarang.
The proofreading fee is paid directly to the proofreading service provider. Its invoice or payment instructions are issued by the provider, not by IJCLS or the journal management.
The APC and proofreading fee are two different payments and must not be combined into a single payment or invoice.
- APC: The publication fee determined under Universitas Negeri Semarang provisions and invoiced through the IJCLS OJS system. Payment must be made to the designated university account or payment address.
- Proofreading fee: A separate service charge invoiced by the proofreading service provider and paid directly to that provider.
Authors should carefully verify every payment request. Any additional payment, charge, or fee outside the official APC invoice issued through the IJCLS OJS system and the official invoice or payment instructions of the designated proofreading service provider does not constitute a payment obligation authorized by the procedures described in this policy. IJCLS is responsible for APC information and payment instructions officially communicated through its OJS system and for directing authors to the applicable proofreading service arrangements.
8. Proofreading and Final Publication Preparation
Authors are expected to ensure that the revised manuscript is accurate, complete, and ready for final editorial processing. Proofreading and any additional publication requirements must be completed in accordance with the journal's applicable procedures and instructions communicated to the authors.
9. Communication with the Editorial Office
Authors should use the official communication facilities provided by IJCLS to request assistance or clarification concerning submission requirements, manuscript status, revisions, invoices, or publication procedures. Inquiries should include the manuscript title and submission reference number, where available.
10. Confidentiality, Privacy, and Data Security
Information submitted through the journal's website, including names and email addresses, will be used for the stated purposes of IJCLS and legitimate journal operations. Submitted manuscripts and associated materials should be handled confidentially and accessed only by authorized individuals involved in the editorial and peer-review process.
11. Technical Problems and Submission Assistance
If authors experience technical difficulties, encounter file-upload errors, or are unable to complete the electronic submission process, they should contact the IJCLS editorial office through the official contact information provided on the journal's website.
12. Final Submission Commitment
By submitting a manuscript to IJCLS, authors confirm that the information and documents supplied are accurate to the best of their knowledge, that all co-authors have approved the submission, and that the manuscript complies with the journal's applicable editorial, formatting, and ethical requirements.
The Indonesian Journal of Criminal Law Studies (IJCLS) is committed to maintaining an orderly, transparent, and responsible manuscript submission process. Authors are encouraged to follow the journal's instructions carefully and cooperate with the editorial team to support the integrity and quality of scholarly publishing.
